Ghillie Kettle is a small family run business, owned by Steve and Maggie Belcher. Steve has worked in the Metal Spinning industry for over 45 years since the tender age of 16 and has never looked back! Maggie, his wife, has worked in the business for 20 years and as well as helping Steve run the business, Maggie also looks after all other areas of the company like distribution and packing. They have been in their current unit 23 years but built their business from the ground, up, to what it is today which is a huge success selling to repeat customers, individuals and wholesalers all over the world in South Africa, Japan, Germany and more to industries such as Camping, Outdoors, Fishing etc. At one stage their business had up to 7 staff members!
Metal Spinning is an incredibly unique trade and is a hard craft to master. It requires skill, hard work and is a physical job. The kettle is made on the metal spinning machine and it takes around 25 minutes to make one kettle using the hand spinner. One of the difficulties the Belchers' can face is that it can be difficult to find the skilled Metal Spinning tradesmen, due to the modern world and technology changing the industry.
Sinclair & Rush have partnered with Ghillie Kettle for some time now. We provide the business with the Threaded Female Ball Knobs (see images) that sit at the end of the Kettle. Our Knob is the finishing component to the Ghillie Kettle. The last piece of the puzzle (so to speak). The ball knob is used for the whistle of the kettle and is incredibly important, as you are unable to take the whistle off without it. Likewise, it stops people getting burnt so there is a crucial safety element to the part. We are pleased that our component is brought to life in the form of the Ghillie Kettle!
A unique selling point about the Ghillie Kettle and what makes it a popular product is that it can be burnt on anything. You do not need gas or electric as it burns on natural fuel. Anything outdoors such as dry fir cones, twigs, forest wood, debris and even paper will make it work! This is why the outdoor sectors such as Fishing and Camping use it regularly. It can cook delicious meals and cups of hot drinks all day long!
