Heavy Duty Jacking Castors for Xbloc® Moulds
Our Engineering Client was tasked with the maintenance and refurbishment of a large fleet of Moulds used to produce coastal defence system Xbloc®. These large moulds produce interlocking concrete blocks that provide protection for harbour and sea walls, breakwaters and coastal structures.
"We were asked to refurbish the Xbloc® concrete moulds so that they separated more easily and were more manoeuvrable. We were very impressed with the help and assistance we received in choosing the right product at a competitive price."

The brief was to provide robust, adjustable Jacking Castors that would survive harsh working conditions and over-spill of concrete from the moulding process. Our Castors improve manoeuvrability of the Moulds between processing stations.
Following consultation and trials, we settled on a combination of our Heavy Duty Item [JKS27] rated for 1000KG p/unit, featuring a 200mm Wheel with Ball Journal Bearing for strength and durability. For additional ease in adjustment, we also opted for High Strength units with manual jacking handles.
Another challenge was the project deadline, 120 units were needed on site within a very short space of time. Working closely with the supply chain, we have been able to meet all key dates.
Nathan looked after this enquiry and despite being a senior member of the Technical Sales Team was struck by the sheer size of the project.
"This is the first time I have worked with such critical deadlines and without the support of our supply-chain, this could not have been delivered on time. I always enjoy working with Engineers looking for solutions and this was no exception, thank you to Duncan for the opportunity."
"Your jacking castors were incorporated into the design and proved to work perfectly. The product is being used in a harsh coastal environment and the castors are constantly having concrete spilt onto them. They are still working perfectly even after the constant use and rough treatment of having concrete removed." Stephen. Engineering Client.
