Hoo Zoo & Dinosaur World, formerly known as Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom is a small family run business in Telford - Midlands. The Zoo began as a farm 32 years ago with Mum and Dad starting the business and now this has extended to their son and his wife being Partners and assisting in running the company. They have several staff help running the business also. Initially, Hoo Farm was a small entity, open to the public with the parents having a background in all variations of farming. There came an opportunity to diversify and in 2004 the business was Zoo Licensed.
Upon speaking with Will Dorrell - Son and Partner at the zoo, he explained they have a 30 acre size land with over 100 different species including Meercats, Ostriches, Foxes and Deer. They also have the additional attraction of Dinosaur World which holds 30 animatronic dinosaurs and a woodland, historic walkthrough time with play centres. Not forgetting the self-catering property attached to the business so guests can stay whilst visiting too. It really is the whole package!
Sinclair & Rush helped this organisation with what was becoming a real issue in the day to day running of the business. Their car park for the zoo is around 60 by 15 metres and is on grass. It is important to them and their core values to keep the aesthetics of the business, and embrace the green and nature to continue to support their conservation message. Likewise, the cost implications and time it would take to have a permanent road laid wouldn't be beneficial to the business. However, the issue with a grass car park is when we have heavy rain, it can be difficult to park and this limits the amount of visitors to the zoo which in turn loses the business money. Our Turf Mesh is a low cost, quick and time efficient way to solve this issue. It doesn't take a long time to put down so limits business disruptions and is a fraction of the cost.
Hoo Zoo & Dinosaur World love their animals and are passionate about conserving their natural habitat as best as they can. In the future, they are looking at using our Turf Mesh in the animal enclosures to stop some of them digging out. It is also a possibility that their sheep can graze at night on the grass in the car park where the turf mesh has been laid. The sheep feed, and the car park grass is maintained. Win win! There really are many uses to using our Turf Mesh in a number of different businesses.
