We were approached by our customer who was supplying a standard EPDM plug to a large automotive manufacturer. The purpose of the plug was to mask a hole during the painting of vehicles. However, the standard part being used was too long for the application which meant the end-user had to cut the plug, in half, to be able to use it effectively.
Given the importance of the manufacturer, it was important to establish a solid understanding from the outset. This meant a member from our Team visited their HQ to fully understand exactly what was required.
The requirement was simple, they wanted an EPDM plug which would fit the hole without any modifications needing to be made.
Following this meeting, the team member brought a sample back from the customer with the confirmed desired measurements and the production department set to work immediately.
In April 2020, we have now produced a plug with the correct diameter and length. The customer placed the order immediately once it was confirmed we were able to fulfil their requirements.
The next stage in the process is awaiting approval of the samples sent to them before full production begins.
