This year we decided to support our local community, namely, the elderly, the homeless and vulnerable families.
- Agincare UK Ltd, based on Chatham, who look after elderly folk in the Kent and Medway area.
- Gillingham Street Angels who run soup kitchens and food banks for the vulnerable families and the homeless.
We appealed to all S&R employees for donations towards this project but we were totally unprepared for what we received. The team members just gave, and gave, and gave; we received toys, toiletries, clothing, books, food and so much more! We virtually filled up the length of our entire canteen in Rochester.
On top of material goods donations, we also collected a total of £330 in cash. With this, we spent £50 purchasing a few more goodies for the elderly and the rest of the money has gone towards a fantastic meal to be served up on Christmas Day at Street Angels for the less-fortunate people in our community.
Our four S&R angels, Millie, Ellie, Chloe and Stewart put everything together by sorting, folding and bagging the clothing, sorting all the toys by age and making up gift boxes, all while frantically wrapping shoeboxes and making them Christmassy and beautiful! Thank you so much to these four for their hard work over the past few weeks with this project - you are amazing!
A thank you also to Shannon Wilson for helping to sort out the boxes and to Jodie Helene for donating Fido (the big plush dog!) which we raffled off and raised £200 alone!
On Wednesday 18th December, Millie, Ellie, Chloe and Stewart got to deliver the gifts to our chosen charities. They have all feb back what a humbling experiecne it was for them. A big thank you to our MD, James Gardner, for driving the goodies to their final destinations.
This is the true spirit of Christmas and we would like to wish everyone connected with us, a very blessed Christmas and peaceful New Year.
