Sinclair & Rush, Inc., the parent company of VisiPak in the United States, has launched an exciting new product line: Recyclapak. Please note, this development is specific to VisiPak’s US operations and does not apply to our activities in the UK.
Recyclapak is the result of extensive research, development, and investment into a pioneering moulding process that utilises 100% clear PET — the most recyclable grade of transparent plastic available today.
Traditionally, clear plastic packaging tubes are manufactured from materials such as PETG, Propionate, Acrylic, or Polycarbonate — all of which fall under recycling category 7. These materials are not widely recycled and often end up in landfill.
“Our customers are increasingly seeking more sustainable packaging options,” said Jeff Barket, Director of Sales & Marketing at VisiPak. “By developing a first-of-its-kind manufacturing process using PET, we are meeting those demands while helping our customers meet their own environmental goals.”
PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is the world’s most commonly recycled plastic, used in items like water bottles and food containers. In the UK and many other countries, these items are accepted in household recycling collections. As a result, Recyclapak containers are far more likely to be recycled than those made from other types of clear plastic.
To further reinforce this, each Recyclapak features an embossed PET recycling symbol on the base of the finished product.
The new packaging is made using a patented moulding process that fuses the tube and base together. This innovation not only produces a consistent, watertight, and airtight bond, but also removes the need for harsh chemicals, solvents, or adhesives — ensuring a more environmentally friendly production method. All internal PET scrap generated during production can also be recycled and repurposed within other VisiPak products.
Perhaps most impressively, Recyclapak is offered at the same price as previous packaging lines.
“While demand for sustainable packaging continues to rise, we know that cost remains a major consideration,” Barket added. “By maintaining the same price point, we’re making it easier for customers to make the switch.”
