Under the Spotlight - Tom
Sales Executive, Sinclair & Rush UK/Europe
The purpose of this is for our people to get to know you a little bit better, in a fun and relaxing way.
So let’s get right into it…
First of all, Congratulations on your 5th year Work Anniversary. Thank you for all your hard work over the past 5 years. We are all very proud of you.
Five years is quite a long time to be at one employer for someone as young as yourself. Tell us, what has kept you motivated during this time?
"I think it’s the enjoyment of the job and working with a group of people who treat you as a family member more so just than a work colleague. That’s been the main motivation for me."
Whilst working for S&R, do you feel that you have learned vital life skills that you can take with you into later life?
"Yes I think when I first started at S&R I was very young and probably a bit immature, but working remotely during the lockdown forced me to take a more mature approach to my work. I had to be dedicated and committed to getting on with the job on my own from my home, which is very different to being in a busy office with all my colleagues."
If you can remember back to your first day at work, how would you say that things have progressed within the company over the past 5 years?
"For me it’s the team size – we have gone from a sales force of around 15 people down to only 7. This means we had to learn to work much more smartly to continue to achieve our sales targets."
Now onto the more fun stuff…What do you do to relax when you’re not at work?
I play golf with Nathan Jones, one of my sales colleagues, nearly every weekend and even sometimes during the week – that’s my main hobby at the moment. I also go to the gym and I used to play rugby not that long ago but decided to stop after picking up a knee injury. Nathan and me are actually taking on the 'Longest Day Golf Challenge' in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support, CLICK HERE for more details
