At Sinclair & Rush charitable work is at our core. Whilst running a successful business, we also know how important it is to give something back and support not-for-profit organisations as our Corporate Social Responsibility. We have put together this summary article to briefly look at everything we have done this last year.
To begin, an ongoing area of charitable support for us is working with our local Grassroots FC team. Grassroots Football is essentially any level of football that is non-elite. The idea is that everyone and anyone regardless of age or ability can form a team and play. More recently, Grassroots FC has been described as, "..In short, grassroots football is football played by masses at a level where participation and a love for the game are the driving forces." The Under 16's Arrows are a lively and promising group. This is the 4th season that Sinclair & Rush has provided Home Kits and training gear. Physical exercise is paramount in supporting the mental and physical well-being of all people, especially the young. It keeps them focused on the right things and channels their energy the right way. Allan – Sales Manager Sinclair & Rush and U16 Arrows Coach says: "To run this U16s FC Team is a pleasure, the young people show real skill, determination, and passion for the sport. I am so pleased that this is something we can continue with into next year"
In addition, we bought and donated woven poppy sticker patches for Remembrance Sunday in November for the Under 16's Arrows, so the team could show their support for Armistice Day whilst playing their match that Sunday. This was another way of showing our support and acknowledgements this year to both the Grassroots players and the Armed Forces.
Also, this year we showed some additional support to another local Grassroots FC team the Aylesford Rockets. David - Territory Account Manager at Sinclair & Rush coaches this team and they required a monetary donation as the entire team is self-funded. They get no external support so they rely heavily on the generosity of local businesses etc. Naturally, we wanted to support to display our passion for young people and hobbies. The young are the future and it's important to show we are invested in them and that they matter. Sinclair & Rush donated £220 to this Grassroots team for their Pop Up Goals. David Account Manager S&R / Team Coach: "The team can now play their football anywhere, this money is invaluable to us and means we can continue to run this Grassroots FC group that truly helps so many young people"
Likewise, earlier this year we donated 64 pieces of our Tubing Inserts in Black to the fantastic organisation that is Horatio's Garden. Horatio's Garden began in 2010, the purpose of the charity is to provide outdoor space for patients with spinal injuries and their families. There are several Horatio's gardens across the UK; all adjacent to Spinal Injury Units. Studies show the outdoors and nature profoundly support the recovery of those with spinal injuries. Our Sales Representative Joey spoke with one of the volunteers there who said he was looking to freshen up the current outdoor chairs for the families to sit on. Joey says: "I jumped at the chance to speak with my Manager Allan about what we could give to this wonderful charity. Extending the life of their chairs with our Inserts may seem small to us but huge to Bill and the team at Horatio's Garden" It saved the organisation money and the waste of throwing entire chairs into landfill. Sinclair & Rush decided to donate these components to them so that their money could be spent continuing to support the patients.
Next, Our Managing Director Mark Osborn and Ellie in Marketing was approached by Epilepsy Sucks UK and one of their fundraisers Laura. Laura's daughter Ella suffers from a severe brain malfunction which means she has regular epileptic fits. What saves the lives of people with Epilepsy, especially at night when sleeping, is the Anti Suffocation Pillows. Sinclair & Rush donated £300 to Ella's Charity Ball. Laura – Fundraiser states "We are completely overwhelmed with the kindness S&R have shown to us as strangers, their £300 contributed to a whopping 10k raised for this amazing cause. Epilepsy UK was taken back by the amount of money raised. They have a backlog of Anti Suffocation Pillow orders to send out to patients so I am over the moon that they can get these orders out". At Sinclair & Rush, we believe it is vital to support locally and be a part of positive and influential change to the future of our town.
And finally, every year for Christmas Sinclair & Rush UK has a Charity appeal, raising donations and money for specific charities across both of our sites in Kent. This year, Ellie in Marketing led the appeal, encouraging and motivating the staff to bring in their unwanted hidden gems from their homes. The donations raised (a total of around 45 boxes and bags of clothes and bric-a-brac) were given to our local Dogs Trust Charity shop in Maidstone and also our Maidstone Heart of Kent Hospice Charity shop. We always ensure to organise the donations effectively for the charities to save them time. They were very grateful for our support. Alongside the donations, our staff across Maidstone and Rochester, participated in Christmas Jumper Day – Save The Children. Donating our £2 online to the charity.
As you can see, a lot of time, effort, and money went into all things Charitable in the year 2023.
